About the event
The Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS) and the World Food Programme (WFP) invites you to discuss policy solutions addressing global nutrition challenges through the G20.
233.5 million children under the age of five worldwide are either stunted, wasted, or overweight. A significant portion of the global population continues to face hunger and malnutrition. Moreover, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, conflict, and climate change add up to the factors contributing to global food security and nutrition challenges.
This event will address nutrition challenges of a global scope and international experiences with policies addressing malnutrition. The discussion will cover issues related to the triple burden of malnutrition, nutrition gaps between regions or countries, affordability and accessibility of nutritious food, responsible citizens’ food choices, and the trade-off between healthy diets and environmental sustainability.
There are several main questions that will be answered through the discussion:
- How are the efforts that have been made to address the triple burden of malnutrition, differences in affordability of nutritious diets between and within countries?
- What potential policy solutions at the national and global level that could address these nutrition challenges?
- What are the efforts that have been made to address the triple burden of malnutrition, differences in affordability of nutritious diets between and within countries?
